In the movie, Lightning claims he will be "The first rookie in history to win a Piston Cup." However, Doc, the 1951 Hudson Hornet, has the 1951, '52, and '53 Cups. Being made in 1951, wouldn't that make 1951 his rookie year, therefore making him the first rookie ever to win the Piston Cup?

even, if he came out in july or august of '50, the raceing season starts in february. so '51 wouldve still been his rookie year

He might be a 51, but that doens't mean he was made in 51.
In July and Aug, you will see the 08's coming out, so he could have been built in 50, and raced in 50, which would mean he wouldn't be a rookie in 51.

True, but since its a movie about cars, one would think the race season wouldn't be a typical race season. They might have said it in the movie, it was a few months since I saw the movie.
