First - don't give up!

Second - if you don't already... get a Myspace music account! Many people are being found on it already.

Third - Try to see if you can get in touch with your local radio. Call them up while they are on air and ask if they can listen to a song and see if they like it. Or send in your demo CDs to their address along with a bio and pictures of the band.

Fourth - Just make demo CDs.. give them to people or sell if you really think someone would buy them.

Good Luck

Take EVERY opportunity to play, no matter whether you get paid. If you have a good sound and good music, eventually people will be requesting you to perform for them -- at a price. So at this point, play everywhere you can. You need exposure, exposure, exposure! If you don't get paid, think of the gig as free advertising and good experience. Religious establishments often welcome free entertainment for their members. Also, many places -- such as coffee shops, malls, etc. -- allow performers to play for free. Get out there and go for it!

you've got more genres than the 80s, gosh. But ask around and maybe do what the pros do and have auditions so you can find the right people. having the right people is probly the most important part of putting together a band.

The first thing you need is a name for your band. Once you have a name for your band, you'll know what type of band you have. For instance, if your name was Mark, I would suggest Marc for your band's name. This would give you that trippy psychedelic edge/unique edge that you're probably seeking.
