was originally dubbed as 'fast leg theory' however, it was changed by the press as 'Bodyline'. It was used to combat the skills of Sir Donald Bradman (who 'only' averaged 58 in that series).
After Bill Woodfull was hit over the head from Harold Larwood. Bill Woodfull said to the England tour manager Pelham Warner, when the latter came to express his sympathy for Woodfull's injury:
“I don't want to see you, Mr Warner. There are two teams out there, one is playing cricket. The other is making no attempt to do so."
The second most famous quote in the game.

Bert Oldfield finished the tour with a fractured skull, the amount of damage that was done to these players is rather horrifying however, it just shows Bradman's genius to still average such a good score.

Nowadays, Bodyline is still legal within the laws of cricket. However it is not considered to be 'within the spirit of the game'. It has never been used again.

Bodyline series became notoriously famous during the English tour to Australia for the1932-33 Ashes series. Bill Woodfull was the Australian captain and Douglas Jardine the English captain. England had two fearsome fast bowlers at that time - Harold Larwood and William Voce. Australia had Bill O'Reilly, T. W. Wall and L. Nagel.

Jardine's concept of bodyline was very simple, put five to six men close in to the leg side of the batsman and the bowler to come "round the wicket" and bowl short-of-length stuff primarily aiming for the rib cage or the skull. Remember, there were no helmets, thigh-pads or chest guards available to the batsmen. There was no restriction to limit the bowling of short stuff.
