Mr you gotta another think coming ,,,, Most hero's aren't dream boats or picture perfect ,,,, That's on television and in the movies only ,,,, Most true hero's are either fat or balled or short and skinny or any combination there of ,,,, You need less TV and movies and more of reading the news papers ,,,,

I think super hero's on television and in the movies are handsome because that is what we want to see. but true super hero's like the ones that worked hard on 9/11 are real super hero's, we have super hero's all around us they just don't have capes and able to leap tall buildings but they are there everyday. As far as appearance making super hero's more likable that is what our world has come to with all the beautiful actors we have been trained that beauty has some sort of mystical power. We all have some super hero in us.

not all super heros are handsome. Creeper is wild animal with crazy green hair. Ball boy is a fat kid that turn into a ball. It isn't looks of a hero that makes them likeable it's the fact that they help people without wanting anything in return. It all comes from the heart.

So we can worship them(subconsciously or consciously).

They're current society's version of strenght, vitality and vigorance.

I mean if superheros look super obese and have super powers whats the point? Would you think Rosie o'donnell or roseann Barr with super powers would make good super heros? How about fat albert? Or maybe annorexic looking people? Or maybe a 99 year old frail looking man?

Or a wheelchair bound superhero. or one on crutches. or one missing body parts.

See what im getting at?

you must realise that superhero are maginary characters who are drawn to look like this build up person who look like they spent their hole life in a gym since birth. looks sometimes is not enough, some people believe that becuase they only go with the appearce of the person and dont care if their good conversation people or such have nothing to say. I belive the best super power that someone has is their inner beauty, what i mean by that is that they are charmers, they make people laugh or they are very interesting person to hang out with. so if that make a superhero then their have your powers

A super hero is not real. The actor or actress portraying was hired mainly because of their appearance.

Imagine yourself as the author of fiction. You can make the people in your book anything you care to.
Would you make your hero a little scrawny runt with a nose like a banana ? I doubt it .

super means above normal in this case
hero means a person with great courage and strength

so if you WANT them to be a super hero they need to have strength (which is the magic power aspect) and courage above the normal person.

there is no requirement for good looks, but....

WHO IS GOING TO READ OR WATCH A SHOW WITH UGLY PEOPLE?!?!?:!?!

Personally, I don't think superheroes have "perfect" bodies (the males anyway). Give me a beer gut anyday over Arnie muscles and six pack abs! It's not realisitc to have THAT ripped of a body, and kind of gross with the veins and all.
