Some of them act like it. However, when we elect a representative, we are essentially contracting them to work on our behalf. Inside the beltway they are indoctrinated to believe that we are idiots who don't know what is good for us and then they begin to act like dictators.

Yeah what he said, when we the people get fed up enough we will eventually throw them out of office and elect those will be better for us as a nation. No they are not dictators no matter what they want to believe and they are subject to the same laws, not to mention those laws that are unlawful or interfere with free will; will be ignored/changed.
