For me there were several incidents but three in particular come immediately to mind. (1) Sinead O'Conner holding up a picture of the then current Holy Father, John Paul II on Saturday Night Live and tearing it to shreds in front of millions of viewers. I wasn't even a Catholic at that time yet I could hardly believe what was happening before my eyes. (2) The TV episode of Murphy Brown that glamorized and made having a baby out of wedlock perfectly acceptable. Dan Quayle was right. (3) And that gross display of "how low can you go" where Rosanne Barr grabbed her crotch while attempting to sing our National Anthem at a ball game.
We are living in an extremely hedonistic era that is preoccupied with materialism and sex while the fabric of our once great nation, the family, is unraveling at the seams. Pope John Paul II spoke rightly of our current culture calling it the "culture of death."

All the reality TV shows that are on right now. What happen to all the quality shows, like The Cosby Show, Family Ties and The Golden Girls (yeah I said it, but you get my point)? ABC use to have Friday nights covered, for the life me of I can't think of what is was called.
I think the networks are slowly bring them back, thank goodness!

most situation comedies. There are just a few good ones. After that everything else followed. They really should pay people to have televisions in their homes. Almost forgot. I do like baseball, football and the Letterman show. I can think of other things I like to watch too but I agree that our televisions should remain in the off-mode most of the time.
Edit: I almost forgot to mention it. I don't have a TV.

Stuff like "Charmed" and other hocus-pocus occultic shows... now we even have modern-day vampires in daytime soaps and stuff... I mean come on... what ever happened to good ol' wholesome entertainment. Let's not leave out those silly reality TV shows like the ever wonderful ones that actually find that following someone around with a camera and capturing their daily life is entertaining to the rest of us. Lord knows there's nothing I enjoy more than watching Bobby Brown wake up in the morning. Paleeeeeeeeeeeez.
