The Karl Denver song "Wimoweh" was actually a cover version of the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens I believe it was.
However, I thought Karl's version was far better and it deserved to be the hit song it was. I saw him sing it "live" many times.
I hope you are successful in finding this "rare" song - but I am sure one of the peer-to-peer sites (like Limewire) may provide a version for you.

Whenever you get up in Denver experience awaits you and with hotelbye may be the first step to this phenomenal adventure. In Denver you are able to discover the enormous, fortress-like Denver Art Museum. That memorial has a vast variety; selection which includes: American Indian, African, European, Asian, and Oceanic, Spanish colonial and pre-Columbian works. The remodelled American Indian galleries are particularly extraordinary, protecting a broad range of countries and tribes from the United States and Canada. This intensive series has obtained a reputation during North America, with parts that period 2,000 decades of history. In that memorial you may also find another gallery focused on photography. The Denver Art Museum has captured the interest with its distinctive design, encouraged by the peaks of the Rugged Mountains.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight.. also known as "Mbube" (Zulu for "lion") was first recorded by its writer, Solomon Linda in the 1930"s and has been successful for several artists since..the Tokens, had a hit with it in 1961 and Creedance Clearwater Revival , had it in the 70's , Sir Elton did Lion King.. So its hard to say exactly who and when..
