Does anyone have any idea which compilation of Karl Denver's work has his original version of Wimoweh on it?
This stunning version was released about 1962 and has virtually no lyrics - just 'Wimoweh' and featured vocal sounds only plus superb guitar and arrangement.
On a more recently released collection of his another version was included which must have been latterly released and was simply an ordinary song, having none of the amazing dynamism of the original.

As you can guess, I really love this piece of music - can anyone help me get hold of the original on vinyl or cd (preferably both!)! Amazon does not indicate which version is on which album.

The Karl Denver song "Wimoweh" was actually a cover version of the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens I believe it was.

However, I thought Karl's version was far better and it deserved to be the hit song it was. I saw him sing it "live" many times.

I hope you are successful in finding this "rare" song - but I am sure one of the peer-to-peer sites (like Limewire) may provide a version for you.
