Seattle is not a hub for any airline that flies to the Midwest, so the airlines with direct flights there tend to be the ones with hubs in the Midwest. You can fly on Northwest directly from Minneapolis or Detroit, on American from St. Louis, on United or American from Chicago, and on Delta from Cincinnati. You may find a few of the other larger cities (such as Kansas City, Indianapolis, and Milwaukee) may also have direct flights.

American flies direct between St. Louis and Seattle. You can also use Alaska to purchase tickets but will ultimately travel on their partner American.

I fly direct from Seattle to Chicago on Southwest and Alaska. Both airlines offer good specials and are generally on time.

Chicago... far as I know, that's pretty much it. My brother went to college in Iowa, and he ALWAYS had to transfer flights, usually in Denver or Arizona.
