It's keeping my Fiancee up and it's a problem for my sleeping too as I don't get enough oxygen for a good night's sleep when I snore. I'm already taking Mucinex, Sudafed, and Benadryl before I go to bed and my Fiancee wears earplugs, but nothing seems to work. Please Help.

I've tried sleeping on my side and on my stomach, this does nothing positive and it makes my arms fall asleep.

The Breath Right Srips fall off after about an hour.

I don't have insurance or very much money so going to a doctor isn't really an option.

See an ENT Dr, and Ear, Nose and Throat Dr!! You may have a very common problem, a deviated septum narrowing your nasal airways.

If you're overweight, unfortuneately you will need to lose weight to help this also.

I know several people, and am in the medical field, who use the CPAP machine, but sleep apnea or abnormal sleep studies just show a symptom of the real problem, not why you are having it.
They are quite difficult to sleep with also.
Breathe Right strips can help, but better to find out why you are having this.

An ENT can detect a deviated septum, which can be causing you to have an abnormally narrow air passageway.
When they surgically remove this crooked piece of cartiledge (from the inside, it doesn't change your appearance) I've seen many patients suddenly breathe like they never have in their life.
It is a very common problem.
It may not be yours, but it's worth a Dr's visit and checking it out.

My ex-boyfriend was a horrible snorer. He woke up the babies in the next apartment! We kidded him because the sleep study machine broke during his test. Wasn't his fault...I guess.
Now, several years later, he finally went to an ENT and had the septoplasty. He said he cannot believe how he can breathe, how he can sleep, and he is not tired all day! He lived tired as he never got into real sleep, deep or REM sleep.
Great, now that we are no longer together he stops snoring...

I would not recommend having the surgery where they cut or remove your uvula, the thing hanging in the back of your throat. I have been in on these surgeries, several years back when Dr's thought this might help snorers. It did not. Some Drs still do them, but from I know it hasn't helped anyone. The uvula covering your airway is but a symptom, not the cause of the snoring.

Good luck to you, and I really admire that you are trying to fix this problem!! Way to go.
My sister's husband snores horribly, and this wakes her all night. He doesn't see it as a problem. He is always tired too. Too proud to go to a Dr.
My good friend just got married, and she has to get up and go sleep on the couch during the night due to his snoring! She doesn't seem like her energetic self, and is tired and miserable.
He recently got the CPAP machine, but ends up pulling it off during the night, and with it he still snores terribly. They did not know to consult with an ENT and are going soon. He is quite overweight, so that's probably a factor.

Good luck and try not to let this become a problem where she ends up resenting you. I'm sure she respects your concern for her and continue seeking asnwers. You sound like a great couple.

You might be over medicating, causing you to sleep too hard or too soundly. Maybe if you aren't in as deep a state of unconsciousness, you'll be less "dead to the world". I snore too and I hate it cuz I'm a girl. (The BF says it sounds like a kitten purring but he lies alot.)

you go get a sleep study then get set up with a CPAP machine (continuous positive airway pressure) this will stop snoring, but more importantly keep oxygen levels consistantly high while minimizing apnic arousals, which you may not even be conscious of doing in your sleep...

Go to your doctor if it is serious. (S)he may suggest you have your uvula scored by laser, which will make the uvula less pliable and thus stop snoring.
