problems with installation so I'm starting from scratch. I think I need to disable the onboard video first in the device manager. Then disable it in the bios. Then install the card? But when I disable it in the device manager and restart the computer I won't be able to see anything, so how am I goin to switch it in the bios? the card says that I have to disable onboard before I install. I think thats whats I did wrong last time. Can somebody please clarify the proper steps involved.

First go to the device manager on control panel/system. In the list, look for display adapter. Select your display adapter and delete it. Then shutdown your computer.

Install your video card and turn the PC on.

Enter the bios utility and make sure your video is set to Auto or PCI. Save and Exit. Your computer will reboot.

Change your VGA cable to the new card. After boot up the OS should request for the new drivers. You can use the Windows wizard or cancel it and run the utility from the CD provided.

Restore resolution settings. Voila!

Remeber to always check the manufacturer website for driver updates.

all you do is set the bios to boot to the pci card first or set it not to boot the onboard, how ever your bios is. changing that will still let it boot the onboard video card if there is no video card in the pci slot.

once you change that turn off the computer and install the card.

then boot to windows.

in the display properties you need to have it set so that the onboard video card is not being used.

you should atleast see the first screen of you're pc when you reboot. If not try to press the bios access key fo your motherboard like del, f2 or f10 which ever it is and look for integrated pheriphearl and disable your onboard vga if you are abble to see anything then take off your new install pci card if still can't see anything, take off your bois battery from mother board and put it back after 30 min, hope you'll be able to see something :).............. good luck
