I am sure i have seen one ending where he survives and the other where he his shot then blows himself and the bad policemen up.

If you have, I can't see how that would work. The ending is dependent on the little girl finding her own way thru life now that she's been 'educated' by Leon. If he suddenly turned up, the whole point to the film is lost, don't you think?

There was an alternative ending.
He and the girl ended up as lovers. But it was decided it was not a suitable ending for the world, so he just walked away and left her instead.

Ive only seen the ond ending were he blows hiself up and the girl goes back to the girls home.

I have also heard this i think it is in the directors cut version of the film where he turns round grabs gary oldman and places a grenade in his pocket before knocking him out and walking out the door to freedom
