Let her know that it's okay to swear, however it can be considered what some would call lazy language.
Effective communication is like a form of art. And to use creative words in what may appear to be a more intelligent manner has greater impact on those who think intelligently.
Just like putting on make-up or wearing nice clothes its all about who we are and if we are expressing our selves in the highest perception that we have of ourselves. Are we being the best we can be in the moment. I'd say yes.
Your friend is expressing herself at the level that she holds herself in any given moment.

Try to politely, in a joking 1/2 serious way mention "she talks like a trucker or a sailor" Geez! do you always have to cuss?" If this doesn't make her realize that it obviously bothers you for you to bring it up at all, then mention again, that her profanity is not necessary and to save it for others, you do not care for it, you love your friendship but do not love her swear words. If she cares she will understand and make an effort to refrain from her potty mouth!

She is just a potty-mouth. Society will take care of that as she matures. Right now, she doesn't have the education, knowledge or social skills to be able to express herself in a mature way.
People who scatter their vocabulary with swear words lack knowledge of the language. Only education will help...and a coupla whacks from society.....

I have that same problem, I curse way too much then I should. But I'm working on it. But I know I have several friends that personally don't like it. So just tell her "I don't like it when you curse, it offends me, could you please watch your mouth when you are around me." At first she might not notice she is cursing, so point it out to her when she does so she realizes it. Because it does become like second nature. So after a while of her knowing you don't like it, and you showing her when she is cursing, if she is a friend, she will try to stop.

The only way to over come that strong of a habit is through God,
prayer and help from family/friends. Trust me I quit smoking
EASY but when it came to cussing i'm still struggling.

Tell her that if she keeps cursing she'll have to give you some amount of money (25 cents, or $1) everytime she says a word around you.

It's all about manners.......if she does not try hard she will never change!! Tell her to go to somewhere nice and to talk to people. Talking with good words will change you.......I speak nice in some places and use bad words when I feel comfortable......You will never hear me use bad words on a meeting where upper management is present unless we are all drinking at a nude girls bar!!

imho, swear words should not be used in polite company and should be saved for, shall we say, special occasions. Also for a lady to have such a potty mouth is not cool at all.
