I work in a hospital and a crack addicted mom is happy b/c her premature baby weighed 3lb 13oz at birth. She was overjoyed when talking to one of her family members and stated "He weighs 3 pounds, 19 ounces." Should I have stepped in and told her that the baby is actually 4lbs, 3oz? I need help.

let her say what she wants... after all it comes out to the same weight. Or the next time you hand her her baby you can say, "and here is your 4lbs 3 ozs bundle of joy"... good luck.

i do no longer think of there is any real thank you to be responsive to this. If a toddler is born healthful, this is not any longer likely the medical doctors could checklist something with regard to the mummy's habit, in the event that they even knew approximately it. however the prospect is severe that the toddler could have some form of beginning illness- important or small. the outcomes it has on the infants is extremely to crack cocaine. the ambience the youngster is raised in after beginning can easily have a great impression on the beginning illness. i'm hoping you're no longer easily in this occasion.

Well what difference would that have made? And I hope to God that social services has been brought into the picture. That baby should NOT be allowed to leave the hospital with the mother.

If the mom is addicted to crack, why hasn't the baby been removed from her custody and placed in the custody of the state. You guys are mandatory reporters, you have to report her addiction.

Really, it's not any of your business. If she wants to think that about a baby that won't be hers for long, let her.
