Music for sure.
Actually, sorry, influence on the language definitely comes first.
Also the things that you value, and the way you look on things is changed, isn't it?..
Also there was that genious artist, who painted his canvasses half in blue, half in red, and sold them for a lot of money, he was black, originaly very poor, but later Andy Warhall's friend. Sorry, don't remember the name.
The food the Americans eat - you can also see the trace of Afro-American Culture in it. Can you not?
(I don't live in USA, but that's just what I think).

AFRICAN-AMERICAN CULTURE
A strong African influence pervades music, dance, the arts, literature, speech forms, and religious practices in Latin America and the Caribbean. Africans, whether as slaves or free immigrants, brought a variety of African cultural influences to the New World.
They came from too many places in Africa and were too scattered throughout the Americas to reestablish all the conditions of their homelands, but wherever possible, they did their best to reconcile reality with their beliefs. Like all other immigrant groups, they abandoned some aspects of their culture, modified others, and created new forms.
This adaptation to local American conditions is called creolization. The number of Africans, their proportion in local society, and the length of time they spent in any one place were crucial in the development of an African-American culture.

Musically alone, Jazz and blues came from African-Americans. So did R&B, soul and a lot of folk music. Rock 'n' roll came from jazz and blues. Hip hop came from R&B and soul. Try to find a commercial on television nowadays that doesn't have some kind of element of music---ie. the commercial element of modern America.
Africans americans also shaped the south giving the southerners a stigma as racists that have had to choose to try to disrepute or not. Also, presidents like Lincoln and Kennedy are recognized and widely known for trying to better the lives of african americans in the united states. Lincoln and kennedy are remember as two of the more important presidents in the US.
Hip hop made people realize that poor people (predominately non-white) in america don't enjoy the same wealth as the predominately white upper class. Hip hop showed modern america that is it is a classist and racist society. Jazz helped lead to things such as the sexual revolution and laid teh groundwork for the sixties.
I think that everytime we see an African American in North America we should ask ourselves how this person got here. Most african americans in North america are decendants of slaves brought to north america against their will. thus the cultural significance of african americans is that they remind us how cruel our ancestors were in hopes we will be kinder.

Sadly, after all their previous WONDERS... they gave us "hip-hop" and "ganster-rap".
Ah, nothing like seeing little twerps walking down the street with their pants half down their @ss, down jackets, and backwards hats... it turned me into a grumpy old man overnight !!
Seriously though... Jazz has been wonderful.
