Hey...most of the rig jockeys that I've been near on the road are very good drivers. There are a few 'cowboys' tho, who seem to think that 200000lb rig makes them into superman. Those are the ones who get a dime dropped on them.
Ditto the yuppies in their SUVs, especially the ones who think that that 4x4 can stop as good as it can go. What idiots.
It can't do much, but there is a gripe site, http://www.platewire.com
check it out.

Trucks are the ones who leave tire treads on the road. The deep grooves worn into roads are caused by large trucks. I could go on forever. Many of these items aren't caused by the truck drivers themselves but the owners of trucking companies. A company would rather overload a truck and pay the fine when they are caught than run two trucks on the same route.
Just listen to channel 19 on the CB radio and you will find a reason to dislike truckers. Sailors listen to channel 19 so they can learn cuss words.
Yes many truck drivers are "curtious" but many are not. Again listening to channel 19 you get the feeling that the roads were designed for trucks, only. Truck drivers need to learn that they also must share the road.

I don't have anything against big trucks or semi trucks. Big trucks move this country! And truck drivers are some of the nicest people on the road. I had to drive in a blizzard for over 100 miles once and I followed in the tracks of a semi all the way. If it wasn't for that truck I don't think I would have made it!
Potholes occur on American roads because we have a federal law that states that whatever company built the road it the one that has to fix it, so naturally it's in that companies best interest to make sure that they have to come back and fix it - MONEY.
European roads are in much better condition than American roads because they have evolved to use better materials.

I'd rather be near any semi driver than anyone else in a car....for I know that semi driver can drive better.
Fully agree....I watch people cut off semi's left and right, go flying around them making the tail of the trailer come pulling out, etc.
I myself give them room, flash them into my lane if they want to change or need to change lanes, etc. People need to realize a semi is not a car, you don't just tap a brake and slow down.
It really boils down to teaching people a simple fact.....that all that speeding, dodging in and out of traffic didn't save you anything. Most think they are saving time, but they are actually wasting it. For 1, you will be at the gas station more often and at the mechanic more often....so not only are you wasting time, but money as well. For what? To be there quicker by 42 seconds?

people just want something to gripe about and a place to place blame.
Big rig drives one of the great sources of the lifeblood of out county. They spend a lot of time on the road and away from thier homes. They are gonna get tired adn make mistakes sometimes, thats life. Share the road and give em some room.
Thanks for everything guys!

Everything being equal I'd rather have trains returning to carry goods of America and put truck drivers back into their former positions as canal boat pole pusher, windjammer crew, porter
at train depots, dog sled driver, barge tender or puller, cart pusher ........ you get the drift. It is the Red Chinese purchase of
all available production petrol that kills fleet and private trucking.
What exactly is your alternative fuel? Don't say Bio-diesel since it is 80% petrol produced. You got a nuke powered Mack, hon?

You have it exactly right. There are idiots in trucks as well as cars, but they are no where near as common. Show them common courtesy and a little consideration, and they'll bend over backwards to be helpful. I've never tried driving a rig, but (if your average Penske rental is any indication) it's gotta be pretty tricky.
It's a hard job, and they do it well. This country would grind to a halt without them.

My mom used to own her own trucking company. I used to ride with her all the time. I saw from a really early age how stupid people drive. I've never had a problem with a semi-driver... ever.

Same in Canada..but I'd like to see them driving through the Rockies in a snow storm!! If we don't show up with the "goods" on time....then we get it from that end too..
Ignore them, they don't even know how many feet it takes to stop a rig in an emergency..then they wonder why we jacknife..
Truck on.

Because every day we car drivers trying to get to work are told by the radio newscasters to take detours all over the place because of a "jackknifed tractor trailer truck." It's SO ANNOYING! Plus, it's your job to know how to drive perfectly all the time. Your a "truck DRIVER."
