Question about planting tulip bulbs?

I live in Micigan and I know I should have planted them in November at the latest but I have about 30 bulbs that I'd like to enjoy! Should I plant them in several large pots and transplant them outdoors in late March when there is no danger of a thaw or just leave them in the pots and put them outdoors? I'd like to enjoy them still, I'm mad that I was too lazy to plant them in the fall like you are supposed to!

I live in Northern Michigan. You can try putting them in pots and you might be successful. If the bulbs are dormant stick them in the refrigerator for a couple of week so that they think it is winter. Keep them in the refrigerator for awhile. Try and get them in the ground before the ground gets warm. You have to go down 6 to 8 inches for tulips. You may not get any blooms this spring but the leaves should come up if you have been successful. The leaves are the important thing. If you get leaves but no blooms, dont be discouraged. You will have tulips next year.

I recommend planting them in pots and then just put the pots outdoors. This will also help protect them from mice. You can leave them in the pots more than one year, bringing in the pots when all has gone brown and dry.

If your ground is frozen, which I'm sure it is, it's to late. They need the fall and early winter to grow healthy roots in order to bloom. Then they need at least a 6 week cold or resting period. You can plant them this spring but I wouldn't bet on any blooms until next spring.

You can plant them now just plant to the depth recommended and cover with a good layer of mulch. They wil come up in the spring
