Badly. The Spanish explorers, the conquistadors, and the churchmen they brought with them brought disease, destruction, genocide and the end of long established civilizations with them.
On the first link below you'll have to take the time to look through, as it covers the Portuguese as well as Spanish explorations...but it is a good site.

Look for your own sites. Everyone who has ever studied history knows that the Native Indians were rudely treated by the Spaniards. Many were enslaved and many more were just plain murdered.

They taught them how to live in peace with each other, educated them and helped them build homes. Showed them how a people who work together can accomplish great things like building great vessels to ply the oceans. Too bad they didn't learn that on their own and develop great nations like the Europeans did?
