What is the rule, I thought it was to move the deciminal point to the right, then add a zero and decimal to the 6. I'm not sure though because that gives you an answer of 60 and that doesn't look right.

=60/1 [multiplying both numerator and denominator by 10]
=60

6 / (1/10) = 60

That is the correct answer.

60 * 0.1 = 6 or 10% of 60 = 6

You are correct. Any fraction remains the same value if you multiply both the numerator and denominator by a constant.
So think of it as (6 x 10) / (0.1 x 10) = 60

The rule you stated is correct. .1 is equal to one-tenth of 1, therefore .1 times 60 Is equal to 6.

Why do you say 60 doesn't look right?

A dime is 0.1 (one tenth) of a dollar. How many dimes does it take YOU to make six dollars? If it's less than 60 you're sitting on a golden business opportunity...

Your answer is correct. Think about it. You are dividing 6 into tenths and that would be 60. If you were dividing by .01, you would be dividing 6 into 100s and the answer would be 600.

You can get 6 "1"s into a 6... and since you can get 10 ".1"s into a 1, it makes sense.
