I don't understand why your doc would tell you to stop your bcp all together? Did your doc do a pregnancy test?
All kinds of things can change your period. Stress, diet, medications, hormones changing levels. If I were you, I would take one more test to rule out pregnancy. Then I would talk to a gynecologist about changing the kind of bcp's you take. There are so many variables in the pills that you may just need to try a different level of hormones to get yourself back on track.
I personally dealt with the same problem and that is what I did and I worked for me. Good Luck! ;)

Did your Dr. do a blood test to be sure that you are not pregnant? First the pill is not 100% effective all the time and second antibiotics decreases the effectiveness as well....thats why when you are on antibiotics you should always use another form of birth control.....If your Dr. did testing for it then hes prob right that you are not preg but if he didnt I suggest you get a blood test done to be sure....stress could also cause a later period and sometimes going on and off the pill could delay it also but I would double check for pg just in case...Good Luck!

first of all try not to stress hun, this can make periods late, and i dont think antibiotics will interfere with your periods, just relax ok
I must note that NOT ALL ANTIBIOTICS interfere with birthcontrol. ONLY sulfer based antibiotics will do it, and ONLY to pill forms, as the reason it makes them less effective is the fact it inhibits the homones from being absorbed into the bloodstream in the intestines.)
you dont mention how old you are? if your under 40 its NOT menopause hun ,dont take your pill for 3 months like doc says,if your trying to get pregnant that is
wait until end of this month see how things go DONT stress, then if you haven't had a period then take another test, and if its still negative go back to your docs and explain there must be something wrong with your body if your not having a period and not pregnant...good luck

If it's a warming thought. i have had the bak2bak pill for over a year now and in this space of time only had 3 periods which are very light and random. like yourself i was like clockwork before.i am also now emotional and have had negative test etc but thinking bout this brings on more stress which makes the chance of having a period even less. I'm not pregnant as if i was in this situation id be about 12 months gone lol. best bet is to follow your doctors advise and if you are not satisfied with this ask for another consultation.

You are not stupid!!! Doctors are not perfect either, try a home pregnancy test and other tests to rule out any other problems. If you do not like your doctor it is okay to switch no matter what your family feels. Your doctor is their for you, so I always make sure I have the coolest doctor and try to keep with them.
I have also been regular like you for many years and stress affected me to where the period was gone, then it came back a little heavier, like it was catching up. I took mild birth control pills for a very short time like 2 weeks and it made my body feel unhealthy. I did not like altering my natural hormones so I went to the diaphragm. I try to keep chemicals/pills out of my body, it makes the body happy and regular. I do however take good vitamin and if needed acetaminophen, other than that no pills. It is good to take a break from the pills and if possible to be pill free. Other options are IUD, cervical cap, or condoms, but that is up to you of course.

you didn't say how old you are but since you mentioned menopause i figure you're all grown up :) Missing periods are really not that uncommon specially when you are on medication or have a stress factor in your life. Mine changes between being regualr and missing for two months! Stressing about missing the period will just make you more stressed and that will have it missing for even longer. Best thing to do is just relax, drink plenty of tea and cranberry juice and exercise a bit... just walking and stuff.
Now if your period is missing for 6 months+, then contact your doctor about the possibility of ammenoreah
And hey if it is menopause, its not so bad... just another stage in life :)

Its prob NOT menopause its prob that you have been on the pill to long. My Dr always takes a woman off the pill for a month or 2 after they have been on it for a year. Just to keep your body from going out of whack!

Hey honey
Please don't stress this happened to me. I took the pill for a few months back to back and your body gets over loaded with hormones and slows everything down!!
You need to stop stressing as this is making your hormones go into over drive. As soon as things start to calm down your body will get itself back into a routine and you will be back to normal.
If your unhappy about the doctor, go back to the practise and see a different one or the nurse who will set your mind at ease.
Get some retail therapy in!!!!

It could be your own nervousness about it not coming, that made it not come. Lots of women have periods come late. They are not always like clockwork. Every woman I know who got pregnant, said they somehow knew it immediately. There is a presence.
