Can't speak for the UK, however, in the US it is American Idol. They can lose 1/2 of their viewing audience, and still hold the #1 spot.

1) US: I'm a fan of One Tree Hill... My girlfriend got me into it and it's really good... It seems the show keeps getting pushed out of the way though for shows such as ANTM and the Pussycat Dolls new show... So now as soon as you get into the show, your faced with waiting another week or two to see the next episode...
