The Germans did not bomb the hell out of warsaw nor did the soviets pushing thorugh.. where the heck do you people get this info. From August - oct 1944 the underground polish army started an uprising in warsaw against overwhelming odds. the up rising was betrayed by uncle stalin who stopped his army jsut east of warsaw waiting to see what happened. The resistance was eventually destroyed and warsaw was leveled very systematicaly street by street with buldozers.
after the war it was rebuilt exactly (almost) as it was before using paintings and other sources as a refence

P.s poland DID become a satelite but as for religious repression that is some what debatable.. The communist government attempted to curtail the influence of the church but failed miserable
and no. there was NO educational stagnation either. except possibly in the social sciences

After the Warsaw uprising in August to September 1944 Adolf Hitler ordered the city emptied and that Warsaw be raised to the ground. So the Germans blew up what little remained of old, historic Warsaw.

It was almost flattend during WW2 by the germans then again by the Russians when the push the germans out, then the russian stole everything that the germans didn't so today just not having germans or russians in warsaw is nice. There are still allot of unexploded bombs laying under the streets.

The Germans bombed the hell out of it during WWII. So today most of it is very modern.
