I need to get a divorce from my abusive husband. I have a daughter by him, even though she has my last name she is his. I would still need the perternity test to get child support. I will allow visitation rights under supervision. Because he also abuses drugs & alcohol. anyone know a good divorce attorney in Elyria,OH, or surrounding cities? I am only 20 yrs old, and don't know how to do any of this. We have only been married for 9 months, and been seperated since sept.2006. He has been discharged out of the US Army because of his anger, and drug abuse. He lives in Bronx, NY, and we own no property together. I just want to move on with my life, but can only do that if I am completley divorced. Help please. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sweetie,

Good for you for going through with this. I myself went through divorce (at 29). My one piece of advice is to get the best attorney you can afford. Ask around, like you are doing. I didn't even think I needed one too badly (no kids, etc) but in the end he turned out to be a huge jerk through the whole process! Luckily, the lawyer I got was the one who could afford a huge add on the outside spine of the yellow pages! :o)

If you don't have the funds (it cost me about $5K in the end...without custody issues) could you ask your family? I am sure they want you to be safe and happy. Good luck!

I feel so sad for you. If you need someone to talk to, just know I'm here. I have been divorced for 7 yrs. and am currently in a court battle.

I live in Elyria. I could give you a couple names. You can google their numbers.
E.G. Koury - Westlake (really nice man to work with)
Patrick Riley - Lorain
Michael Duff - Lorain
Rothgery & Associates - Elyria

You can also contact Legal Aid on E. Broad St. if you do not have the money to invest.

i think of it relies upon on the place you reside. maximum states, it somewhat works suited in case you have a separation contract all drawn up. in case you have performed this, you may could desire to get it notorized to make it good. I had the contract performed yet i do no longer recognize if it gets filed someplace or no longer. i do no longer undergo in ideas. carry out a little checking around - I paid $2 hundred or so for my criminal expert and that they did all of the workplace work, went to court docket, etc., and all i mandatory to do replace into sign the papers. it rather is lots extra basic. And once you're the two in contract, merely employ one and chop up the fee.

check the phone book for legal aid , if he is abusive they will do it for free. and any welfare system will help collecting child support and do the paternity test and charge him. good luck and get out soon before u end up dead or in a hospital in a coma....
