Yes you can take things for sore throat when you are on birth control. Birth control has nothing to do with over the counter meds.

Yes. If your doctor prescribes an antibiotic it may compromise the effects of the pill and you would want to use condoms as a back up measure. But taking something over the counter should not effect it. If your in doubt ask your pharmacist when you go to pick up something for the sore throat.

Only antibiotics can effect birth control. If you are on antibiotics, keep taking your pill and use other protection until you are through with your antibiotics. Over the counter medications won't affect the pill.

Double check with your doctor, but you should be fine.
Just be sure that whatever you're taking does NOT contain St John's Wort. This has been proven to reduce the efficacy of the pill.
Also, if you end up with antibiotics, DEFINITELY use backup BC.
