they are gonna bring in another veteran to compete with jackson at qb. I think Jeff garcia would be a perfect fit for the vikings. They run the virtually the same type of offense as philly since childress was a the eagles offensive coordinator 2 years ago. Maybe someone like trent green might be a good fit. But whoever they bring in is gonna just compete with jackson for the starting job. I think the biggest thing the vikes could do to help the qb situation is figure out a way to trade with either the Lions or Browns to that 2 or 3 spot in the draft and grab Calvin Johnson, instead of reaching for a wide receiver like ted ginn jr at the #7 spot where they currently sit.

Johnson is pretty much done in Minnesota. Look for the organization to push Tarvaris Jackson next season. However, this is not automatic, since they will probably pick up a veteran QB from free agency to provide much needed support and tutelage for the team's young QBs.
Personally, neither QB on that team would be really effective. Also, looking at the offense that Minnesota runs, Garcia would not be a guaranteed good fit ... but Harrington might actually be better in Minnesota. Since the Texans may be on the inside track of getting Plummer and the Schaub situation is looking like a major trade issue (something Minnesota wants to avoid), look for Minnesota to pick up Harrington from the Dolphins and then groom Jackson for one more season before sending out against the wolves of the NFL North.

I think that Brad Johnson will ultimately be released if he does not accept a pay cut and it will be a position battle between Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger pending a Free Agent acquisition. Just in case you were wondering the person above me was wrong about the whole Brad Childress working with Garcia in Philly because last year was Jeff Garcia's first year as an Eagle and also Brad Childress' first year as a head coach with the Vikings so to say they had experience working with each other is not true.

I'd imagine they're going with their 2nd round draft choice of last season, Tarvaris Jackson. He's mobile, has a good arm, just needs to get some experience and he'll do fine. I don't think it would be wise for the Vikings to sign another starting QB before giving Jackson a shot.

They should go with Jeff Garcia for a year. After one season, the Vikings will probably go with Jackson. Remember, he didn't do bad when he played this year. If they got a reliable Number 1 wide receiver, Jackson could be the guy this year. I'm gonna be sick if Minnesota wastes their first round pick on Brady Quinn. I honestly think he'll be a sucky NFL QB.

With Brad Johnson being cut, the obvious 2 remaining are Brooks Bollinger and Tavaris Jackson. I believe Jackson has the edge here, since he is young, smart, and I think he is a capable player. Jackson was found with Brad Childress during the Senior Bowl several weeks ago, discussing the playbook and his workout schedule. I strongly believe Childress is trying to go with his younger side and possibly create something like the Donavan McNabb he helped create, without the injuries. The upside with Bollinger is he is a mobile option who has a history with Childress, although he has shown mental lapses in his time with Childress. I think the obvious choice would be Jackson.

Look to Jeff Garcia.
Brad Childress worked with him before in Philly and i do not think Tavaris Jackson is ready to take the reigns as of yet. I hope they do not waste an early draft pick on a QB.
Also, I wouldn't mind seeing David Carr in the Purple and Gold. It might be a stretch but if Houston gets Plummer, Carr could be gone.

They may try to re-sign Brad Johnson for less money. IF not there are a few other FA out there......Garcia, Plummer (maybe), Bledsoe, Harrington. Hard to believe they would enter the season with only Tavaras and Bollinger.
