After all the press and people out there said he was being disrespected because of his color, and before he got his $4.7 million dollars a year contract, he threw Ron Rivera to the hounds like an old bone. I know the game a little bit, playing 3 years of ball on scholarship, and about 3 weeks in Dallas before I blew out my knee almost as bad as Livingston did recently with the Clippers. In 1976, we did not have the technology to rebuild it like they do now. Coach Ditka, who was the Special Teams coach with Dallas in those days, was as clear as day when he said, ''sorry kid, you're done.'' He was right! Anyway,I do know something about the game of football and the game of #'s. It would be hard to argue that despite a little letdown towards the end of the season, Ron and his defense got the Bears to the SuperBowl. Then, Lovie let's himgo at a bad time and now he is LB Coach for SD. Where is the fairness in that? Can anybody explain that to me please. I know what the press says.

The Chicago front office is known for their cheapness (sadly enough). If they played a little more with their salary cap space, they could quell many contract issues with their players and maintain a better team unity. Lance Briggs is now tagged as their franchise player ... which gives him a one-year contract with a massive payment boost. If he continues to play at his level, look for Chicago to lock him down after next season.

As for Ron Rivera, he wanted out of Chicago before his release from the organization. If you think the Bears just cut him out, then you should know this: Rivera interviewed for 8 (EIGHT) different head coaching jobs in the last two years! He also told the front office he wouldn't be coming back. Seeing him take the demotion to LB coach for San Diego is also a huge surprise, especially since Ted Cottrell (the new SD Defensive Coordinator from Minnesota) has been deemed the worse of the two DCs between himself and Rivera. Rivera was already on his way out and the Bears finally saw that and granted his wish.

this is nothing compared to what the cheap bears' management is going to do in the offseason. RB Thomas Jones has already asked for a trade and Lance Briggs wants to get out as well. Adawale Ogunelye who had the critical play in the NFC championship is also on the list. I mean how cheap can u get..the squad made the super bowl and as a management you should do what ever you can to keep em all to have a good run again next year.
I don't see the bears making the playoffs again unless the management quits hesitating in spending some money!

Well Baltimore sort of did the same thing to Marvin Lewis after they won the Superbowl. They expected him to get a head coaching job so instead of giving him a contract extention, they let him go and of course he ended up as D- Coordinator with the redskins before going to the Bengals. So, I can see why they would do that but what I dont understand is why they are about to rip up there roster. No good ever comes from doing that.

Lovie was being disrespected. I don't know if color had anything to do with it, but that is the past, and now he's getting paid the big bucks. He deserved the raise.

Regarding Ron Rivera, let's not jump the gun. Lovie is a good coach, so I am sure there is a good reason why he let Rivera go. Let's wait before we rush to judgment.

The only reason that Ron Rivera was let go was because it was clear that his heart was no longer in Chicago and that he wanted to become a head coach.....it was just unfortunate that he did not get one of the many available jobs so he took LB coaching job in San Diego and then get his head coaching job next offseason.
