I've seen a bed (which is available with a choice of mattresses) for my 10 year old son which I really like. The problem is the price is dependant on the type of matress he needs. I don't know the real difference between them - Firm, Memory, Cushion Top, Luxury Firm, Comfort Sprung. The web site doesn't really help me.

10 year old boys can sleep on just about anything. Floor, ground, love seats, etc and feel good waking up. I would not spend a lot of money on a mattress that might get ruined by playing, jumping, spilling, making tunnels-you get the idea.. I would get something firm of good quality. As he gets older he might require something different. Hope this helps.

Firm memory is the best ,cushion top is a just a cover over springs ,luxury firm is a double pad lay ed on top of the springs, comfort sprung is a lot of weak springs held together under pads .

Comfort sprung. When he is older and has a bad back he can get a firm one then. As for memory whats the point he's growing all the time.

Depends how much you have to spend. Get the best you can afford, as he'll be doing a lot of sleeping on it over the next 10 years! Best to let him try them out before you make a decision for him, as it's a personal comfort choice.

Memory foam matteresses cost a fortune if You get him a semi firm one and buy a 2" (50mm) memory foam topper. I feel sure that would do the job
They are great, We bought a topper about 18 months ago and would never be without one again
