Ticket prices change everyday, as often as seat inventory changes. You are highly likely to get the cheapest prices 2 to 3 months in advance, if it's not a holiday period that you're traveling. This is when seats are not yet taken, and airlines are trying to fill up their flights. This is also when cheapest category rates are still available (like 50-day advance purchase tickets).
I suggest you observe the prices for a week, and see if there is a trend. Once you set a level, then the following week you decide which price you are willing to buy the tickets for and book and purchase when you see a good deal.

The sooner you buy the tickets, the better. Airplane tickets rise every single day!
We bought a ticket to Cancun two months ago for this month and it was $250 each. now it is $800 each!! imagine that.
It is better to get the tickets as soon as you can to get a good price. Sales may come up, you never know; but it is better to have the tickets than to wait for a sale that may not come...
My recommendation: get the tickets now!
loos for better prices in the airline web page and also in www.cheaptickets.com they always have better deals! Good luck and enjoy!! :)

if u can be flexible on the days, u should try and get ticksets as close to when you leave as possible. they have websites just for last minute plane tickets and they're cheap. but that means ur buying a ticket they day you leave r you may leave a day later if there isnt room on a flight. but if you are planning a whole itinerary, then you need to book now. cause if u wait too late, ur tkts will be more expensive.
let me clarify.
if u get last min tkts, they're really cheap cause it's uually cancelations or seats that were reserved for frequent flyers who didnt need the seats.
if you wait and book a few weeks beofre, they'll prolly be more expensive than they are now. just cause thats the way it is.
trust me, my dad ractically lives in the airport.

The rise and fall almost daily. Keep checking the internet until you find the price you like. March is not to early to start looking either. Check airlines websites to see if they are having any sales on also.

Prices keep increasing. You can either hold out and hope for a sale or lock in your price now. I'm going to Paris in May and I tried holding out, but ended up paying $200 more.

All of the above. I would buy them now. There's always a chance that they could go down a week or two before the trip, but they may go way up, depending on demand. I wouldn't risk that, I would just but them now or within a few weeks.
