Let your body adjust to being off the pill...my Dr said to wait 3 months after getting off the pill to get pregnant. Start taking folic acid. Tehre are a lot of problems that can occur in a overweight pregnant woman...such as high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. On teh other hand I was 300lbs when I got pregnant ( had no problem after they figured out that the depo shot had stopped my body from ovulating) I was closely monitored by my Dr for problems. I had non...sailed through, and actually lost weight. I was told that I could onyl gain 10 to 15 lbs in my pregnancy...I actually lost 10, and went on to deliver a very healthy 8lb 4oz 24" long baby boy. So yes its easier on you and your body to lose weight and be at a healthy weight before getting pregnant but you can still get pregnant and havea healthy pregnancy being overweight.

It's really hard for overweight people to get pregnant... and there is probably good reason behind it. Overweight people tend to have a lot more problems in their pregnancy like high blood pressure, gestational diabetes etc. I would advice that you try to lose a little bit of weight before you try for a baby. And definately give yourself enough time to get back into a normal cycle.
I used to be 205lbs and every time there was even a chance I was pregnant I was really worried because being overweight and pregnant is really unhealthy, though it's not unheard of. I lost a lot of weight and got pregnant (go figure lol).
Remember you can gain a lot of weight being pregnant(I was actually small and only 135lbs and now I'm 40 weeks pregnant and 180!) and if you really want a baby, you want a healthy baby too. Just something to think about!
Good luck though! And try to get on a normal cycle for sure, so that you know when you're ovulating and when your period should be coming. :)

I got off the pill and immediately got pregnant. I am also overweight (235). I never had a problem conceiving with either of my 2 sons. Some overweight women have problems conceiving, my sis-in-law being one. They tried for 2 years and it finally happened. The doctor told her it was because of her weight, I think it has more to do with heredity, overall health (besides weight), etc. Does it make that much of a difference to you if you get pregnant immediately? or do you still want to wait? I dont think there is a definate answer for you (being overweight) or anyone else as to the time frame in which you will get pregnant. Good luck!

It can take 6 months or more to return to fertility after discontinuing the pill, though some women return to fertility right away. Hormonal birth control also depletes the body of vitamins (especially b-vits). It's important to start building up your nutrtional stores now in preparation of pregnancy.
Having excess weight can interfere w/ conception. Fat cells produce estrogen which can delay or prevent ovulation in large enough amounts. Many women who are overweight conceive w/o problem, but sometimes losing just a few lbs can help if there's a problem conceiving.
I highly recommend charting your fertility signs. Your chart can tell you when you are fertile, when you are not, when you are ovulating, when to expect your next period, and when to suspect pregnancy. Your chart can also tell you if there are issues delaying conception or causing difficulty w/ carrying a pregnancy and if there are serious issues which need a doc's attention.
Some good sources for charting your fertility signs: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software), The Art of Natural Family Planning, and Garden of Fertility

I think it matters on the person because my friend was over 200 lbs and as soon as she came of the birth control she got pregnant but if it was me I would because you never really know it's hard enough for a person who is overweight to concieve never mind adding to it I have been trying for like 6 months now and it all just proves it depends on the person so If I was you I would just to avoid any complications
