We are a sports-driven society. With the web and cable TV coverage available, athletes are never far from view while playing or not.

Whether we like the fact or not, the same attention that causes someone to buy a shoe or golf club just because an athlete endorses it will cause them to mimic the athletes behavior as well. Athletes are role models. The real question is whether they are positive or negative influence.

They can be, but some of them should not. Just because someone is an athlete does not automatically mean they are a role model.

Hopefully your parents are they best role models and of course there are exceptions to this as well.

You can tell which ones try to be. They're the ones not in jail for having illegal Drugs and/or Weapons and/or Murder.
