We know that the area of a triangle is given by the formula 1/2*base*height =Area
Hence 1/2*4*height=12
height=12*2/4
=6 units

Area = 1/2 base x height
Height = Area / 1/2 base
base = 4
Height = 12 / (1/2 x 4) = 6 units

The formula for the area of a triangle is base times height divided by two. Just reverse. Divide 12( the area of the triangle) by 4 (the base of the triangle) and MULTIPLY the answer by two. This gives you 3 times 2. That is the answer to your question.

if 4 is the base lenth and 12 is its square units then it stands to reason that if you multiplied the square units by 2 = 24 and divide 24 by 4 your answer would be 6 why? because by multipling the square units by 2 you have created 2 equal triangles
