Look for this book:

Programming in Visual Basic 6.0 by Julia Case Bradley and Anita C. Millspaugh
Published by Irwin McGraw-Hill
ISBN # 0-07-233513-0

I taught myself VB using this book. It's extremely easy to read and follow examples.

Planet Source Code is great. Everything from small Subroutines and Functions (Functions return Values to the calling procedure, Subs execute other code) to complete applications. Check out http://www.pscode.com . It has versions of VB from VB-4 through the current .NET framework version.
