I personally feel it it everyones duty as an American citizen to vote. There has been alot of blood shed so people can live in a free country. Women, minorities especially. They werent allowed to vote, remember? Had to fight and rally for that. I dont think it should be mandatory, but it is a civil duty. If you are not willing to listen to the candidates and make an informed decision, than you are not allowed to complain about the way things are going. Every vote counts. If you want change than vote. Or, keep your opionions to yourself.

Voting is a privlege in the US, not an obligation. Making it an obligation would only lead to many people who are uninformed and/or uncaring casting a vote. This goes against the basic principle that the most qualified person should be elected to office.

Conflicted. I think it's important to take part in elections- even if you don't support or identify with any of the candidates, a blank or write-in vote is still better than not participating IMHO. Having said that, I still feel that it should be a choice. The government has no business telling us what degree of validity or legitimacy we should (implicitly) be giving it that way.

I don't think it's really a good idea, because there are a lot of people who are ignorant and too intellectually lazy to get the facts, so the last thing we need is to have them vote.

I'd like to see informed voting make a comeback. 2006 was a start.
