I am fair skinned with blonde hair/blue eyes, and I have undereye circles, so I apply an ivory foundation with SPF 15 to even out my skin tone. Than, I apply a light pink blush on my cheeks. I also wear a coat of black mascara, dark brown eyeliner, and a neutral brown eyeshadow. Lastly, I sometimes wear lipgloss or lipbalm. Is this too much stuff piled on my skin? Should I skip the blush since I'm wearing foundation? If I do, though, my skin seems kind of pale. The blush seems to give it a pop of color.

This does not sound like too much makeup to me. but maybe you are using the wrong shade of foundation? When you have applied your foundation, and you look at your face in the mirror, it should not look like a mask on your face. Make sure you do not look too "white" in th mirror.

I too have a light complection and whenever I have a makeover done at a department store, etc, they always start to put Ivory shade on my skin and then find it is too light. I actually need to use a very light beige. It also helps if you determine if you have a cool toned skin or a warm toned skin. Do you have a bluish cast to your skin (cool) or do you have a yellow cast (warm) then try the next lightest shade after ivory and blend well at the jawline.

Now, once that is completed, try putting on your blush, very lightly, and dont bring it in any further than the middle of your eye on your cheeks and then use a makeup sponge to blend well. there are several makeup books you can buy at Barnes and Noble that will show the proper makeup application.

If I could only choose one item, it would always be the blush, because as you have already found out, you will look pretty pale without it. Again, make sure the blush is the right shade for your undertone. The wrong shade will just sit on the top of your face and stand out rather than blend in and look natural. Your blush should look like you blushed, not like you have makeup on. And always save the glitterly look of any makeup for after 5:00 pm.

Also, if you are really fair skinned, with blue eyes, switch your mascara to Brown or Brownish-Black for a more natural look, and don't line your eyes very heavly. and don't line the bottom lash unless going out at night. That will look more natural.

absolutely not. as a matter of fact i think the blush really enhances your features. if you find foundation heavy try a tinted moisturizer with spf(mac, clinique, nivea) so that it is light and sheer but provides coverage, moisture and protection from the sun. also instead of apowder blush try a cheek tint gel or cream to powder finish. it gives a natural blushing look. the browns totally bring out your features especially your blue eyes. you might even want to add a little pale sparkle shadow to the inner corners of your eyes and on your browbone to highlight and open up your eyes more.good job!

i am guessing this is your daily look. for more special occassions don't be afraid to step up a notch by just changing the color of your eyeshadow or gloss or even both. when you have spare time experiment, when you finally get the hang of it you will feel totally comfortable doing plenty of looks. there are no rules in makeup, all you need are good color combination skills and proper application. good luck!

No, it doesn't sound like too much, but i can't see it for myself. You have to be careful, since you are fair not to look overdone. But also because you are fair, you don't want to look washed out and pale, so I wouldn't skip the blush if you think it makes you look more alive and awake. experiment by skipping the eyeshadow one day, and the eyeliner the next to see if you really need both during the day. Also, if you are having problems with clogged pores from the foundation, try Bare Minerals- it doesn't look like makeup and it is actually good for your skin. Try the starter kit because it comes with high quality brushes that definitely make a difference in makeup application. The right brush could be the difference between classy and tawdry!

It sounds typical to me. As long as you don't look plastic when you are done, then I don't see anything wrong with that. But if you want a bit more sheer coverage so you don't feel like you're wearing a bunch of makeup, you could try getting a concealer that matches your skin tone to use under your eyes, then use a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation. Besides, that moisturizer will give you a healthy winter glow. It's hard to keep your skin looking nice in the winter.

ok just leave on the blush and take off the eyeshadow i agree with you that blush does give the skin a better tone if you have eyeliner already just remove the eyeshadow or the other way around. i almost wear the same ampount of makeup too.

I think what you are wearing is pretty typical. The key to make up is this ~ it should enhance your features, but not change your appearance. If you look totally different without make-up, then you are wearing too much, but if you just look a little more enhanced and colorful, then you are doing it right. I use Bare Minerals and LOVE it. While it seems to be more expensive, it really isn't because it lasts for a long time....flawless coverage and good enough to sleep in without damaging your skin.

I actually have the same skin tone and hair color and also deal with dark circles under my eyes. Maybellene (sp) has really good concealer for under eye circles that i looove! As far as that being to much it sounds fine. I just wouldnt wear that much everyday because when you wear that much everyday people dont notice how pretty you look when you're dressed up. I'd skip on the eye liner and eyeshadow for day to day wear. but that's just me!

hi! no, I think what you are doing is fine. Make sure that the lipgloss is of a lighter color. Those hot reds are best for night time if you ever want to use them , but I think they make you look as if you do have more make up. So, if you want to look more natural I would go with the lighter tones. Also, to keep your skin looking good make sure you always remove make up with good products before going to sleep and keep your skin hydrated.

Maybe use a brown mascara and a light brown eyeliner. You don't want to look like something from a freak show with bulging eyes. Everything sounds fine.
