Here is a suggestion this is what I did when mine escaped..
I put out a few books... stacked on top of each other to make like a stair case... at the end I put a bowl that was too deep for him to climb out of again. I put treats like a trail leading up to the stairs... i then placed food in the bowl. I took a piece of paper and laid it across the bowl... (with food on it) (as hamsters don't see very well but they do see edges). eventually he got hungry and followed the food... and fell into the bowl.. i had to put a few of them out around the house... but it worked... also i had to wait till night time as they are nocturnal.
Hope this helps.

First of all your dad will not kill you, maybe yell and be mad at you. I'm sad to hear you hamster escaped, sorry. Hamsters can be little escape artists and have been known to open up their own cages. We had one that we had to put a small lock on because she escaped so often. She escaped one to many times and she is now buried in my small animal pet cemetery. You need to honest and truthful with your dad. He should appreciate your being grown up enough to tell him what happened. If you lie or try to hide the truth and he later finds out the truth, he we be a lot harder on you. I bought my 17 year old daughter 2 mice, told her to let them settle in for a day, well she didn't. The female got away, but she came to me and told the truth. Luckily for us she climbed into her sister's hamster cage 3 days later where we found her alive and well. I was mad because she hadn't listened to me, but I told her if she isn't found, she'd have to pay to get another later.
Here's how to try and find it. Place a deep walled container one the floor wth a ramp going up to the top. Place some litter, small amount of food and a dish of water in it. Check each night and morning for it. Hamsters are nocturnal (night animals) and will be looking for the food at this time. You can even place some food on the ramp to entice it to go up the ramp. A clean bucket makes a good trap with this. I've seen a hamster reappear after a month, so don't give up trying. Change the food and water every 3 days to keep it fresher.

Don't lie to your dad just take and put fresh food in the cage and if it is hungry it will e to eat.Cheese may attract the hamster back because when mine got out I took and put out some cheese then it come back within a couple of hours of smelling the cheese the best way to catch or find it is with cheese. Take a small desk fan and put the cage on the floor put the cheese inthere and use the fan to spread the cheese scent all around your close area. peanut butter will also attract the hamster same method as cheese.

I will tell you a secret... your Dad expects the Hamster to escape !
Just tell your parents and ask for help looking for it. Be careful about sitting or stepping on anything .
Leave the cage open and food in the cage. The hamster may come back when its hungry.
Remember they sleep mostly during the day.

hamsters love small dark spaces. cheak in any places like that or small holes. if u cant find it maybe u could phone a mate or 2 to help u look for it.
if non of that works then u can eather tell ur dad the truth, make up something (like it died) or go out and buy another one.
there nt very expensive. u might want 2 c if u can gt a lift of another adult (friends parent or relative or somthing) because u shouldnt really be walking around outside with a hamster. first of all because it would look kinda daft and secondly it could gt hurt.
good luck. xxx

Answers here are good and I can tell you from experience as well, they love dark places. They love to hide and I've found mine in my parents bedroom closet before as well as behind the laundry hamper and under my dads dresser....
I panicked when I found out she got out and I started to cry cause we had a shepard/lab cross at the time as well and I was afraid the dog would find it first and eat it.....
Take a flashlight and start looking ... look under things, like your bed, in closets, etc... If all else fails, and you're home alone... get some fruit (preferably apple) cut up little pieces and put one in each room you think she might be in... Apple is stronger scented I think than some of the other fruits and veggies and your hamster should get a wiff of it sooner or later and come out to get it.... When you find your hamster, put it back in the cage, make sure you close the door and put a piece of apple in the cage with her/him.
Good luck, I hope you find your hamster soon.

well did you think of looking for the hamster??/ Look in any dark places, closets, under the bed, in a corner, if that doesnt work. Your hamster will come out at night. I made some steps out of legos and made the step to go up to the cage and just enough for the hamster to drop in but not long enough for him to get back out (cause he will) Leave the doors open at night so the hamster can come back in. Put food in the cage and a little outside to attract the hamster

First of all, don't freak out, even though I'm sure you already are. My hamsters have escaped many times on their own. What I would do is shut all the doors in the house to make sure the hamster will stay in one room. Then check every room carefully, don't make a lot of noise or it will scare your hamster. Good Luck!

Well!Tell him the truth, Lying will only make things worse. You can't be a psychic in this instant. You didn't know it was going to get out. I'd look under all the dark places, if your door was shut then probably only your room. However I'd be more careful next time just in case it was you. If it was the Hamster then double lock it so it can't do it again.

Okay, Just calm down call your Dad at his work and ask him what he is having for lunch today. He might tell you he is having a hamster sandwich they taste just like chicken. If he is not having a hamster sandwich go buy a rat trap and put a little peanut butter on it and he can have a hamster sandwich tomorrow
Good luck
