Ronald Reagan!

More than a president, he was a phenomenon -- an icon to some, and an enigma to others. He stood up to the worst economic, domestic, and international threats of the time and yet, took naps in the middle of cabinet meetings. At the height of his popularity in 1986, he had, as Time magazine put it, “found America's sweet spot. “ Reagan had ideals of what he felt America should be like, and made it his number one goal to share his unrelenting optimism with every person in the country. He pledged to bring Americans a “little good news.” and created a strong bond with the public. Throughout his eight years in office, he continually motivated and energized his supporters while at the same time, confounded and mystified his detractors.

For a while, at least, the PRIDE really was back!

Oh, and then there's that whole "wall" thing.... :-)

We have had some great ones, Teddy Roosevelt, R. Reagan, Washington, Jefferson and many more.
But the one I admire most was more of a team effort. FDR and Eleanor. He became ill and could not function in his position. Eleanor took over the position of president while keeping his disability a secret. Nobody knew until afterwards that she had been running the country and making all decisions. So technically even by default...Eleanor Roosevelt was the first female president, even if some won't acknowledge her.

Ronald Reagan. Whether you agree with him or not it cannot be denied that he believed in the United States. He stuck to his guns even when some policies weren't popular with many, including some of his own advisers and in the end was proved right on many of those same policies. Most of all though when he spoke he made me believe and made me feel great about being an American.

Ronald Reagan. Not because he was a great politician, but because he was the only President to make the USA feel good about itself.
