In posting this you're perpetuating that struggle...
There will always be someone upset at someone else or someone's race. SOmeone will ALWAYS feel belittled or demeaned enough to lash out at a whole way of life, or the color of someone's skin.
I'm not taking away from their individual experiences that led them to feel the way they do (barring psychosis) but what they need to realize is that holding that grudge against a race or type of person (whom, the VAST MAJORITY are not guilty of their crime, perceived or otherwise) is wrong.
There is no superior race, no better person or minority/majority that will last for any length of time...
There may have been slaves, but guess what? That was a timeframe in history where SOCIETY felt that was acceptable... kind of like rappers belittling and demeaning women.. but that's OK right now. SO in 30 years can women has a gender demand restitution for being exploited as sex symbols in the year 2007?
LoL.....

Well, what their morals say and what their history consists of are two different things. While today's British and white people might believe in equality, their ancestors most assuredly didn't. Britain is the land of Rudyard Kipling's "White Man's Burden" and the concept of manifest destiny. They're also responsible for quite a lot of genocide in many different places worldwide. So it shouldn't be any surprise that the British especially are targeted. Colonialism has come back to bite them in the derriere.
The saying "they can dish it out, but they can't take it" comes to mind here.

i may well be ticked off, too, if i became Prof. Gates. yet, he's an psychological and by potential of all potential could comprehend a thank you to regulate his temper and spewing insults is horrid no rely who spews them. on the different hand, the police officer became out of bounds and could have checked his own ego after getting to understand Gates became in his own residence. the two are at fault in this occasion.

Part of it is jealousy... the British (and I am a citizen) have accomplished so much, invented so much, created such wealth and power that it is no wonder others look upon us with envy, and since they cannot hope to emulate our success, they knock us.

I am a white American of British ancestry. While I disapprove of colonialism I must say I disapprove even more of what the Africans did when they sold their own kind into slavery.
