i am asking this because i am buying a new laptop this weekend, which is wireless and we don't have a wireless broadband account at our house. i am thinking about still using my old pc to access the net and use the laptop for studying and work, which is why i want a faster and more mobile pc. i want to get rid of the old pc in a few though, but i need access to the internet

does the laptop have an ethernet port? then yes if not then no.

Yes usually, but be sure to ask the sales person if there is an Ethernet Port on that specific model. But anyways yeah on almost every wireless laptop there is also a wired plug. And it will judge automatically, no need to change any options when you're home or at work.

Absolutely. The laptop should have a network card built in. I can't think of any mainstream Laptops that don't include the NIC, typically a 10/100 Autosensing card. Windows and OSX are both defaulted to automatically get an address from a router when plugged in. Internet should work with almost no effort on your part.

Sure, you can connect it just like a desktop. Are you using dialup or cable/DSL? If you have cable/DSL just go out and buy a $40 wireless router. But either way you can just plug it in as laptops have all of the cable connections.

as long as you have a lan port on the laptop yes. I sometimes connect my laptop to my wireless router VIA cat 5 just to get better download speeds

Yes, as long as it has the 10/100 interface for the broadband cable, you can operate it using cable. If it's equipped with a modem, it will also operate on dial up.

every Laptop comes with a port for w ired connection, so you can connect your wireless laptop to the internet using a wired connection.

A wireless computer means it has the option to go wireless. every computer and laptop comes with a "wired" conection.

As Long as it has a port for the cable which i'm sure it will. Just make sure its enabled under internet options.
