the extent that male homosexuals are popularly viewed as being more simpatico/compatible with straight women than straight men are? Homosexuals of both sexes are commonly viewed by many as having characteristics of the opposite gender of course, but I don't think that is what is at work here.

I think that there is a LOT of misogyny in the gay male population. Comments about their hygiene, etc are very often heard. And look at some of the "campy' movies that are popular like all of Divine's stuff, and "Girls will be Girls", and a million others.

You truly must not be aware about the numbers of men who actually hate male homosexuals. Why do you think that there is so much hate crimes mostly linked to them. For some straight people, it's hard to see your daughter be a lesbian but it REALLY hard for some fathers mostly and mothers see their sons having sex with a man. So stop boo hooing because no matter what the situation is, you just make yourself happy. I'm a straight black female and honey everyone gets labeled. Don't even sweat the madness! I don't! As far as I'm concerned the entire planet can kiss what twist if they don't like me for one reason or another. HELLO!

why? because society has to put a label on everything.It is ridiculous. I am a lesbian and I know of a lot of lesbians. We don't hate men, we don't even have a problem with them. We just don't want to sleep with them. I believe there is a huge difference between a lesbian and a feminist. Now there are some feminists who happen to be lesbians or vise versa, but that is still no reason to place that label that all lesbians are feminist. You know what I mean?

Not all lesbians hate men, but some do. Just like not all heteros hate gays, but, OBVIOUSLY, some, (many?) do...
And there are plenty of gay men who hate women...
People just have their personal biases. Maybe from experiences or something else unknoen where these biases come from.
We just have to take everyone on a one on one basis before deciding we don't like someone and not base past experiences as a reason to not like a certain demographic.

That is a great question ! I think lesbianism is seen as synonymous with feminism, which has some stereotyped "man-hating" qualities. There are so many men who fear feminism, which is unfortunate, especially those with daughters, sisters, etc. So its the feminist part of lesbianism that draws that criticism.

I believe that it is the flipside of the coin which places lesbian scenes in heterosexual movies and treats them as a sexual fantasy until reality shows it's head. Many men seem to take their ideas of what a lesbian is from those porno movies(sexually voracious and willing to engage in sex with anyone at the drop of a hat) and simply cannot understand when they meet an actual lesbian who does not want them to have sex with her and a girlfriend (or any other kind of sexual contact with a male) and labels them a "man hater" in a fit of frustration and what essentially works out to be little more than sour grapes.

i think it all goes back to the male ego.i think men think that if a woman would rather be with another woman then she must hate men, that however is not true i like men just fine as a matter of fact i love 4 men with my whole heart they are my sons lol but all jokes aside i can only speak for myself but i do not hate men at all i just happen to love a woman

This is one of the few times that I will admit that this is only my opinion.
I think that a lot of lesbians for whatever reason, dislike men. Because of their dislike of men, they turn to lesbianism.
Male homosexuals don't seem to dislike women. They are just looking for some action, and they really don't care where they get it. From what I have read, and observed, promiscuous sex is rampant in the homosexual community. Probably, men with sexual addictions are more prone to homosexuality.
Again, this is just my opinion.
