I remember the story being about a future world where people who are exceptional are fitted with devices that make them not so exceptional. For example, one man was really smart so they fitted him with something in his ear or head that made a high pitch noise whenever he started to think so he would stop thinking. Also, a good ballerina he was watching on TV was fitted with chains and weights so she couldn't move as well as the others. Some had bags over their heads because they were prettier. I believe it ended with someone who as tired of the devices and stuff coming into the TV studio and shooting people especially the ones in charge.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about??? It's a short story I read in English class in high school and I'm not even sure it's Ray Bradbury but I think it was.....

Sounds like "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut. A guy removes his impairment device and dances around the room. He gets shot. His parents see it on TV and the mother cries. But soon enough her impairment device kicks in and makes her forget what happened.
Cool story. Loved it.

I know exactly what you are talking about...but darned if I can remember the author; the title was the name of the boy who was exceptional and ends up getting killed. We mentioned it in govenment class the other day...drat...it wasn't Bradbury, I'm sure.

I'm not 100% sure, but i think i recall reading that in a compilation he did, called "R is for Rocket". It had quite a few short stories in it.
