Both. I served in the Army for eight years and I can tell you that it was a cross between Black Hawk Down and Sgt. Bilko (Steve Martin). You always have the serious side AND the ridiculous antics screaming in the background. They go hand-in-hand. Think of those times where you pulled pranks at work.... It's the same for the military.

Plus, my friend (a former submariner) just confirmed that my answer was correct.

Both movies were 'fiction' so I'd go with 'The Hunt For Red October' or 'U571' for accuracy, as they were both based on real events and real submarines. :-)
