At least once a day, I get these stabbing pains in my lower right pelvic area...my doctor said it is just my ligaments stretching, but sometimes they are so painful I have to stop whatever i am doing and relax they really hurt. I am 28 weeks pregnant, anyone else experience this?

Sounds like round ligament pain. These are the ligaments that "anchor" your uterus in your pelvic area. As your uterus grows these get stretched hence the pain. You can not stop it from happening other than not making sudden movements and the best thing to relieve them is to bend in to the pain and stay there until it goes away....I have theses constantly with every pregnancy and it is maddening (not to mention painful)!!!

Aren't there a million "wonderful" pains about pregnancy that everyone forgets to tell you beforehand :)

Its normal! It could also be the baby pushing down on your pelvic floor muscles, that hurts a LOT! Feels like stabbing, or twinges. Is it when your baby is active? If so, that's what it could be. Otherwise it's probably round ligament pain (the stretching of the muscles).

Don't worry about it, your baby is just fine! And you are ok too! :)

Congrats on the pregnancy!

Your doctor is probably right. The pains you are experiencing are probably round ligament pains and they are completely normal and usually start in the second trimester.

Here are some links with info about round ligament pains.

Having such pains is not normal specially at 28 weeks.
Take a second opinion please.
