Actually, Falcon Man is correct. Mosquitoes, or more specifically, the Malaria disease that is vectored by mosquitoes kills upwards of a million people in Africa every year.

The number killed by crocodiles, hippos, lions and all other vertebrates combined doesn't even come close to that.

After that actually comes various domestic animals that kill people on farms, or in cities. Dogs, cattle and even horses kill more people than most of the wild animals.

Amongst wild vertebrates, it varies from year to year and region to region. Most years, it is hippos that kill the most, but a couple of years ago during drought in Zimbabwe, crocodiles actually killed more people. Snake bites, such as black mambas, can also account for several fatalities a year, and in some years may equal or surpass the deaths caused by the more charismatic megafauna.

In any year, though, the numbers are usually only in the dozens for each critter - nowhere near the deaths caused by mosquitoes, or even other parasites and disease vectors like tsetse flies, nematodes, tapeworms or flukes.

hippos kill the most humans in Africa by far ,
they are very teritorial and because their habitats are shrinking because of Human sttlement and because so many rivers and lakes are drying up their territories are disapearing all over ,this leave many very angry Hippos.

the lions are next ,people have killed all the game that the lions used to eat ,and now people are the only thing left for the lions to eat in places like Central republic of Africa ,
and in Kruger Park in South Africa .lions kill many migrants who cross the border

crocodiles kill some stupid people that go in waters where there are crocodiles their natural food is also getting less, and many people have traditionally used crocodiles to dispose of enemies

In recent times Hippos is the number one animal responsable for human death in Africa. They were believed to be peaceful and lazy animals but they are more active than what you think and males are very aggresive since they are territorial and a new thing I learned recently they were believed to be vegetarian but have been recently found eating meat and not just that but canivalist with in their own groups!!!

If you need more info go to National Geographic website......you can find more info there!!!

Like everyone else, the answer is hippo. They are very territorial and aggressive. In addition they have very powerful jaws and large piercing teeth. Add in not very good eye site and you have a recipe for disaster! With humankind infringing on their environment the run ins have increased and they are by far the largest killers.

I think mosquitoes are far the most dangerous animals in Africa. Caused by single-celled parasites of the genus Plasmodium, malaria is transmitted from person to person by the bite of female mosquitoes. Each year more than 300 million cases of malaria are diagnosed, and more than 1.5 million die of the disease.
