It's used only by the Marriott corporation. It's just a way for them to uniquely identify each property.

MARSHA stands for Marriott Automated Reservation System for Hotel Accommodations, and consists of a 5 character alpha code that uniquely identifies each hotel in the Marriott System of hotels, including all sub-brands.

Ex: Marriott Seattle Waterfront is SEAWF, JW Marriott Miami is MIAJW, Manchester Courtyard is MHTCY, etc.

This is the program which used both in Marriott Hotel Company and its substitute Ritz Carlton Hotel LLC all around the world.

It provides to hotel empyloyees to get connect with Opera Reservation System and any transaction which is related with the hotel accommodation.

For instance; Imagine that some of groups are coming to The Ritz-Carlton Istanbul via cruise from the '' far east ''. First you need to opening a group name from marriott website and after it is automatically opening in the Marsha Program, later than you will add the name of the groups who are coming to the property and their room types, etc in Marsha. After that transaction you will face with the Opera Program and you easily find the name of the guests in the Opera.
To sum Marsha is the program which is always integrated with the Opera.

So far I know, it works like that, I have just started to internship in The Ritz-Carlton Istanbul.

Hope to help you.
