Well honestly..just about every place on the strip is "worth the money" you get what you pay for. It depends on your budget. If you really want to save money but stay on the strip..Circus Circus and Stratosphere are good bets...the rooms are decent, and sure there may be kids around and not your ritzy "stuck up" wanna-be baller Vegas folks around..but hey you have an extra $300-400 over the weekend to gamble..but again Circus Circus and Stratosphere are down the strip..so walking to center strip is far. Good places close to the strip, with medium value, and cost around average..I say Aladdin/Planet Hollywood is good (just came back there over the weekend) was nice and the constructionw as minimal, Ballys, and Treasure Island are all nice. Next up the line is Ceasars...it's a little more expensive than those mentioned before, but much nicer, and dead center strip. Then you get to Venetian and Bellagio..I think Bellagio is worth more because it's nicer than Venetian and center strip.. Lastly there is the Mandalay Bay and the Wynn..for the "swankiest" Las Vegas folk..yes worth the money given how nice they are and how "swanky" you either feel or wanna feel...the only thing i dont like about mandalay and the Wynn is that..they are not really centeral on the strip..but then again. if you can afford those places..you should be able to afford taxis...unless you're one of those "i'm staying here to pretend i'm a baller and impress college gold diggers who can see through my BS). Anyway vegas is really fun..as you can tell I love it, but hate how fake everyone is there, but yeah have fun :).

Try checking out the website hotel.com they are very good at informing how good is a hotel. People who have actually stay at a particular hotel have actually rate it. It's not a bad idea to check out the ratings before making a decision. I've been to Vegas a few times and every time I go I stay at different hotels on the strip. Why? to see if their worth coming back to. The hotels that I've stayed are the Imperial Palace which is decent and not that expensive, the Jockey Club right next to the Bellagio again decent not expensive, and TI (treasure Island) also very decent very clean and to be honest the prices are not that bad. Well I hope I have helped you deciding which hotel is better. One more thing try to book your room a month in advance is allot more cheaper. Have fun but most of all be safe.

Hi there...I am about to go to Vegas for my second time. I am again staying at the Tropicana, which is kiddie corner from the NYNY. It is dated but clean and I had great customer service last time and the comps are generous for a cheap gambler like me. (lol). This time, I get 2 nights free and am paying $45 a night for the other 3. That is the price of one night at NYNY, which by the way was my favorite hotel when I was there too. I spent quite a bit of time there but slept at the Trop. I wouldn't recommend Circus Circus as it is so far north and tons of kids. And the Stratosphere is even farther north than that. You would be way out of the action......

I have stayed at most of the major hotels on the strip, but my favorite place is the Golden Nugget downtown on Fremont Street. Great prices and being downtown saves you a ton of money on drinks, food, and everything else.
You can grab a cab to go to the strip or better yet, pay $2 and ride the bus anywhere on the strip you want to go.
Don't forget to see the Fremont Street show every hour after dark. Its an overhead light show with more than one million lights that is most impressive.

Since you did not mention a budget... the Four Seasons is the best for the money.
The Lofts at MGM are nice as well. Two storys with butler service, They pick you up at the airport in a Myback limousine.
Looking to slum it for the weekend, The Wynn will do in a pinch. Of course they only use rolls royces and bentleys.
.
Of course, oyou want just a nice hotel with no frills, i would consier the bellagio. but that aweful fountain in front attracts the riff raff... So just be warned....

Lets start off with the dumps:
Circus, Circus
Stratosphere
Treasure Island (its not exactly a dump but it IS over-priced)
Barbary Coast
Bally's
Sahara
Here are the best hotels:
MGM
Bellagio
Mandalay Bay
The Luxor
Wynn
The Mirage
Venetian
Monte Carlo
If you look online now you can get really good rates at Monte Carlo, The Luxor, and The Mirage.

I stayed at both the Mirage and Ceaser's Palace. The Mirage is great, not as far to walk to rooms, and gambling is cheaper. Ceaser's Palace seems more upscale, the rooms might be a tad better, but food and gambling seem more expensive and alot more spread out, which means more walking. I actually preferred the Mirage, but Ceaser's Palace is more centrally located.
Go to yahoo travel and search for hotels. There are alot of great reviews on there.

The Imperial Palace in Vegas is great. It also has something like 7 restaurants and is centrally located. This site has a list of hotels and links to all the hotels websites.

pretty much anything on the strip will be worth the money. You have to keep in mind that the hotels on the strip range from extravagant to ok, but all are decent. I would stay away from anything downtown. There are alot of dumps down there.
