Me, personally, I have had 4 c-sections and no vaginal births so I can't compare the 2. I can tell you that a woman is crazy to choose a c-section just to have more control or because they want to deliver on a particular date. C-sections are major surgery and with it comes risks. Not to mention the pain afterwards. A vaginal birth is much easier to recover from, even if you have an episiotomy. My first c-section, I could not stand up straight for at least 1 week after I got home. Coughing and sneezing, forget it!!!! It hurt. I got an infection in my incision with deliverty #3, had to have the incision reopened and cleaned everyday by my husband. I now have a permanent indentation in my belly. You really need to do your research on both options and speak to your ob.

I had a c-section. I tried for Vaginal delivery but my body just wouldn't go into active labor. After 18 hours of inactive labor they asked me if I wanted the c-section or to keep trying...I went for the section! I kind of wish I had been able to have vaginal delivery but my best friend who had her son a month after I had my daughter said if she knew it was going to be that painful, she would've tried to get a c-section instead but she doesn't regret it and can say she actually got to experience real childbirth. She is envious of me though because my doctor does not do VBACs (vaginal birth after c-section) so I get to know EXACTLY when I'll have my next baby, and that won't be for a couple more years lol. So I guess I'm pretty happy having my c-section. The scar is almost completely faded and recovery from the c-section really wasn't as bad as every chalked it up to be. It made it much easier having my mom and in-laws around to help out with the household chores I wasn't allowed to do for the first 4-6 weeks for recovery. Also, you have about a 2 hour separation period from the baby with a c-section, while they're cleaning the baby and stuff they sew you back up and put you in a recovery area by yourself to sleep for about an hour or so and then move you into your mother-baby room and bring the baby to you, it sucks but you're so doped up you sleep through it, or at least I did lol. So the only MAJOR con of a c-section (for me) is not getting to actually experience true birth which is something I really wanted to say I did.

Sometimes you have no choice. I've had two c-sections and I don't think I would have it any other way. If you think about it when you have a c-section yea they do cut you but it is not a big cut at all and you don't have to push or anything. The doctor does all the work for you! I didn't have a choice on my first child he had to take her but my second he asked me if I wanted a section or try to have her and I said c sectoin. And the healing time all depends on the person. I was out of bed the second day I had my little girl walking around and the 3rd day when I got out of the hospital I went to walmart and I had a c-section!!!

i had to have 3 c-sections,i don't think i could of dealt with vaginal birth,c- section baby's come out with perfect heads.you might hear some things bad about c-sections but i didn't mind them i was up and around the next day.also c-sections baby's are kept in a baby warmer for a few hours after birth. that's a lot of bull about a epidural and being short i am 4 11 and had no trouble.if c-sections were so bad people wouldn't schedule to have them done when they have a choice between vaginal and c-sections.

well i am one who has had both. My first son was born Vag. and recovery time was 7-10 days. I had family come in from out of town 2 weeks after he was born and i was out walking the town, and even went to an amusement park, although i didn't get on any of the rides. Never the less i was up and moving around and able to keep up.
Now with my second son, a totally different story. He was breech, so i had no choice but to have a c-section.
It was almost 3 weeks before i was up and moving around, and it took months for me to feel like myself.
With a c-section i had pains at the site for months after.
Now i am going to have my third son any day now and i plan on going for a trial vbac.
My choice would be to have babies natural.
Blessings!

The only pro of a C-section is that it exists in case of an emergency. The cons are that it's surgery and you take longer to heal.
A C-section should not be a choice. It should only be done if really needed.

I had to have a C-section and would definitely choose natural. What they don't tell you before hand is that if you are short like me (5'1") you will probably have trouble with the epidural, getting the needle in the right spot in the back. Then I had problems with my blood pressure, and a side effect ofthe epi is the shakes, so I couldn't hold my baby for a few HOURS after he was born.

I would never want to have a c-section. I'm terrified of surgery or anyone cutting on me.
Someone commented about an Epidural being a problem because of height, not true. I'm 5'2 and had an Epidural with my first baby and never had any problems during or after.
I liked delivering me baby and his head shaped out in only a few days. My mom had two c-sections and as always told me she wouldn't ever want me to have one.
