According the the utility company, Al has only been purchasing the "green" credits for $4.00/month/unit since November, 2006.

Additionally, the reports indicate that they are "currently" installing solar panels.

And I thought Al had been "eco-friendly" for over three decades.

"Parker said Gore has been purchasing the "green power" for $432 a month since November. The Gore home is also under renovation to add solar panels, Kreider said."

Nothing. Same as he is doing now. He uses his money and influence to "buy" other people's unused carbon footprint. Example: he uses $30K in energy costs, then offsets it by having a few dozen trees planted or installing some solar panels on his pool house.

Al's only eco-friendliness is that he expects YOU to conserve so that HIS big fat carbon footprint is reduced. If you support Al, get outof your Suzuki Sidekick and start walking....he is depending on YOUR carbon offsets, i.e. YOUR SACRIFICE.

Good Old Al. Installing solar panels. Solar panels are a net energy sink, that is, it takes more energy to make, market, ship, and install them than they will ever return in energy output in their lifetime. They are a "feel good" item at this point in time. Don't take my word for it, educate yourself..the info is all over the net, and even in books.

Nothing! If I Had 1/100 of the money he has, I would be retrofitting my house with solar panels. He has enough money that he could lessen his footprint and that of 100 middle class families in Nashville.
