I am a 20 year old girl who was teased all throughout high school and I let it take away any confidence I have. Well this guy approached one of my co-workers and asked her to ask me what I think of him and whether or not I have a boyfriend because hes interested in me. I would have never thought he'd like me because I thought he was out of my league. I cant help but think this is a joke...why6 do I think like this? By the way I have never had a boyfriend and it is him I'm nervous is lying not my other co-worker. Even though I have no reason not to trust him.

Amy, you have self esteem issues that need to be addressed. You can get therapy for this. You have to learn to believe that your capable of attracting the attention of men. Exuding confidence is a very attractive trait. And It's OK to be nervous, that's only natural. I say you go for it, you have nothing to lose and lots to gain.

Well here is a thought comming from a guy. 70-85% of guys are sleeze bags looking for a good time and sex. But there are a % that are looking for what really matters. A good guys see's you for the real you. He values your personality. that's not to say you may be really pretty, but that's not what really matters. Maybe he see's the way you treat people, or care about others. Maybe he likes the way you laugh? You judgement is clouded by the be ing teased? So you can't see clearly. Does the guy seem like a Jerk? If yes stay away. If no, then why would he play a cruel joke? At some point you have to take a chance on love. If you don't you will live your life alone. Maybe you'll have to go through 100 rejections, but then that 1, that true 1 shows up? Do you want to miss that? Have a close trusted friend make a pro and con list of your personality for you. My guess is you will see a heck of a lot more pros and cons, that's what others see even if you can't

I hear you on this, however if he is doing this cause he geniunally likes you what is is going to hurt. I understand your insecurities, but don't sell your self short or blame other people for it. If they are playing a cruel joke on you they are going to look like the bigger jerks. I would say that your interested if he is only seriuos. If you truly don't trust your friend or whoever is coaxing you into this. Simply state to them "I have been through this my entire life and if you are that bored with your life and going to play a joke on me find another victim because carmas a biotch" If they are serious then you are lucky. Come out as the man standing on top! Good luck!

I understand the low self esteem you have due to your high school years. However you got to build yourself up and believe that you are a great person, if you are absolutely unsure of what this guys feelings really are, maybe you can suggest to your friend a group outing until you are comfortable with him. If he is honestly interested in you and you tell him you would like to get to know him, but would prefer "group" dates for a little while due to some "personal" issues, he will respect that and do the group thing and work up to some individual dates.

i had the same problem ... for so long u been teased that now as ur grown u start to believe well all the stuff they said but b tue because no one esle ever had feeling for me like that or like me ... so u cant help but feel that everytime something like this happens that it will be a bad joke on u ... trust me when i say i was in the same boat as u ... i still think my boyfriend is out of my league but u noe what he still here with me after a yr ... we love eachother dearly and we couldnt be happier.
