That show she had for the school in africa just made me sick, Just do it and dont pat your self on the back for everything. If she is doing it to be nice then why does she have to let everyone have know that she did it? I know i am going to about it from all the Queen Oprah loavers out there.

I think it is because her arms are too fat to pat herself on the back. Also, to remind the public that she is "better than everyone else".

Yes, I can't help but feel that Oprah is a little self righteous in all this but hey, if she's got the money to get stuff done then ok, Oprah do your TV special and be on your way. No really she's doing a good thing but I saw her talking about it once and she was talking about how selective they were in the admissions process and only wanted girls with "that certain thing about them" so they didn't fill all the openings. Now, these girls need help, this isn't some audition for a TV show, it's a lot bigger than that. "oh, sorry you're not outgoing enough, back to your AIDS ravaged village you go!" Oprah is just on a power trip with that one.

Oprah had the special to raise awareness on one of the problems many countries face. People all over the world need to see that there are problems that need to be addressed. Poverty is one of those issues. Who better than Oprah to bring attention to such an issue. People listen to Oprah and everything that she promotes.

Maybe something good can come from the TV special. I don't think she was tooting her own horn because she is already as famous & rich as she will ever be. She doesn't need publicity because she is publicity. I know sometimes the way she explains things may make her sound like a snob, but I would sound like that too if I had all that $money$.

At the end of the day she is doing a good thing that could help people. More people with power should follow in her footsteps.

I Think Oprah does it because SHE CAN! I also think it is because she has a huge following/fan base, and people are genuinely interested in what she does and her causes (and this equates to ratings for her show and her network). Also I feel that in addition to receiving Kudos for her efforts from various humanitarian groups she also does it to raise awareness on the issues that she backs. While I must admit I am an Oprah fan, I am not an Oprah fanatic. I also don't always agree with her choice of causes, sometimes I feel that we should do more in our own backyard so to speak. I am sure there are several orphanages in the United States that can equally benefit from Oprah's efforts like that of the African Children. However, I feel her efforts are still admirable, and that any humanitarian regardless of their cause should be commended. I think Oprah just has a better forum (the media) in which to rally her troops, and you can't knock her for doing good, and making positive changes for any Human Beings. If this in fact makes you sick, do something about it. Perhaps you should take on some humanitarian efforts or charities yourself, that you feel are more worthy.

I easily have performed one extra suited: I gave away my television set 4 years in the past and have not appeared returned, and that i've got in no way even seen her teach! So each and all of the mediamongerers and tv personalities have lost rankings. Now I in basic terms lease movies and exhibits. As for Obama, i would be regrettably disappointed if he's elected; all I hear approximately is how "replace is coming" and "sure, we are in a position to", yet i do never hear any plans on how those issues will take place. he's as plenty a charlatan as any of the different applicants. My vote became into for Ron Paul, somebody who is conscious the form and the suggestions that made u.s..

So if you were in her shoes you would Not do the same? huh?
You know she is trying to set an example. A good one at that she makes me want to give what I can to the less fortunet. She is doing good why nock her for it, at least she's doing good and flaunting it. I bet she does'nt share every great thing she does with the world! She should be commended, even if she is just gloating! oh well she's OPRAH! if I has a show named SABLE! it would be about me, and the good about me, not the flaws.

Because she's a really smart business woman...television specials get advertisers which then gets Oprah paid.

Still love Miss O though, her actions speak louder that her self importance.

Some people have a "God-complex". The woman has money and does nice things. Great! More people with money should give back to those who don't have or can't have. However, I believe true charity is done anonymously. Just my opinion.

Well, her show has more class than a lot of talk shows. How do I know? At my age I get to sit in a lot of doctor's offices and watch a lot of trash that I wouldn't watch at home.

Whatever her true motives are, this is what happens when she does a special on something, people get behind that cause.

Is that so wrong?

I think that she does these things to redeem herself. I'm not denying her accomplishments, but it sure looks kind of odd when she will spend all of this time and money in another country and not do anything of this sort in this country. Here, she'll invite all of the trendy-est people and give them all a car. I'm just afraid she's going to hurt herself patting herself on her back.

I think it's just because anything with the word Oprah attached will draw huge viewerships. Sponsers love her.
