It is sometimes patently obvious by looking at a construction, that something is amiss.

However, it DOES NOT PROVE ANYTHING - the eye may suggest that something is true; it may then become a "conjecture". A more reasoned, or mathematical justification is called for in order to prove the truth of the conjecture, for the eye can easily be fooled into believing.

A magician earns his or her living by very successfully deceiving the eye.
