Can someone please tell me where to find Indiana Laws on "established residency" or "squaters rights" ......I have a friend that owns her home...and everything in it...about 9 months ago...she "thought" she was in love, and let a man move into her home with her. After this length of time..she has discovered this man is really quite the psyco and wants him out of her house....he claims he doesn't have to leave because he has "established residency" and that this home (mobile home)is equally his...they never married, nor did ever put his name on the title...in fact...he isn't even on the lease with the mobile home park in which the home sets....how can she get this man out of her house. (Doesn't have the money for a lawyer).......Any help would be appreciated....

Already tried the police idea...they "won't get involved in a domestic issue" unless he physically does harm to her. And, for the smart A** with the comment about the mobile home...she's a disabled widow, who does the best she can do...at least she owns it!

There is no "commonlaw marrige" in Indiana so living together shouldn't give him rights
File a restraining order against him
call the cops on him and file domestic abuse charges
Move his stuff out to the curb when he is gone and change the locks

My heavens, I never have been flashed, but I did unintentionally flash a few folks once. I was in the hospital some time back and decided to take a stoll to the vending area. Well, I wasn't thinking about what I was wearing and, let's just say that those hospital gowns don't leave a lot to the imagination on the backside. The nurse came up from behind me and put a blanket over my shoulders . . . I was wondering why it was a little drafty back there!

Best way would be to change the locks and if/when he wants in, call the police and let them supervise him moving stuff out of her home. The burden of proof would then be on him to prove he has right to be there, which likely, he will not be able to prove. He likely would not even bother to file a Court case or show up for Court...he is bluffing.

To get a Restraining Order or Order of Protection does not sound likely in this case...he would have to actually physically abuse her before this would be granted.

Her best bet is to file a restraining order of protection, there is implied residency but if she has just cause and files it will be the most expediant way to get rid of Mr Nutcase, enforcement of the order ( it's usually set in an amount of distance ie: he can't come within 100 yds.) will allow the police ot remove him the quickest, this is going to be the fastest solution

this man has no legal rights in Indiana. She can call the sheriff's dept and have him removed. All she needs is a copy of her lease and to tell the sheriff he is there against her will and she wants him out

Well, anyone who feels that losing a mobile home in Indiana is a bad thing needs to re-examine their life and values.
